Evans, Halliwell signed up for "Popstars: The Rivals"

By
Former lovers Chris Evans and Geri Halliwell have been signed up for the second series of Popstars, according to the News Of the World today.

The programme -- "Popstars: The Rivals" -- will seek to put together an all-girl band and an all-boyband who will battle it out for the Christmas number one spot.

In a further twist, however, there will be two separate panels of judges putting each of the bands together.

Former Big Breakfast host and Virgin Radio DJ Chris Evans was signed up for the show on Thursday, and will join Geri Halliwell and Pop Idol's Pete Waterman on the judging panels. Both Evans and Halliwell are said to have received £150,000 each from the show.

"It'll make great TV because they're sure to have it out with each other on screen," an insider told the newspaper. "Geri has never forgiven Chris for dumping her, so she's got personal reasons to beat Chris by gettong her band to the top spot."

The series premieres in September.
