Andrew is first "Popstars" casualty

Andrew Kinlochan has become the first person voted off ITV's Popstars: The Rivals.

Tonight it was the turn of the ten male finalists to perform live, with the viewers voting to keep in their favourite.

In the result show, host Davina McCall whittled the ten boys down to just two -- 23-year-old Andrew and Chris Park, revealing that just 5,341 votes separated them.

Andrew, who had first impressed the judges with his rendition of Stevie Wonder's "Lately" back in August, was then named as the first person to be voted off the show.

Whilst he seemingly took the news well -- singing out the show with a performance which most of the judges and fellow contestants thought was even better than his earlier one -- the other male finalists were in tears, particularly Chris, whom he had gotten particularly close to over the past few weeks.

Next week it's the turn of the girls.
