Emma, Chloe voted out in 'Popstars: The Rivals'
At the start of tonight's results show, Davina split the nine remaining finalists into two groups, then informed them that one from each group would be leaving tonight.
The first group contained Nicola, Nadine, Cheryl, Emma and Sarah. The number was whittled down to two -- Cheryl and Emma -- before Emma was named as the one with the fewest votes.
The second eliminee came down to house-favourite Chloe and Kimberley, who had replaced pregnant Hazel in the final ten. Davina then named Chloe as the one to be leaving.
Both girls seemed to take the news well, and as usual, those contestants who remained were in tears.
"I'm a bit emotional at the moment," said Emma in an interview with Popstars: The Rivals Extra host Donna Air immediately after the ITV1 show went off air. "I'm a bit shocked, because I think I performed really well tonight. I'm going to be fine though, I'm going to come back. Whoever doesn't get through, we're going to get a little group going."
Chloe seemed more composed, saying that what happened was fate. "I'm OK," she said. "I don't feel wonderful and all happy, but at the end of the day, that's how it's meant to be."
Earlier in the evening, Emma had sung a version of 'Be My Baby'. Pete said the thought she was "still struggling" in the competition, whilst Geri doubted whether she had enough courage "to go all the way."
Chloe had given a take on the Fontella Bass classic 'Rescue Me'. Pete described the song as one of the untouchable ones, that should "never be attempted.. because you'll always come second best." Geri said that she didn't think Chloe had a strong enough voice to pull it off.
Speaking after the result, Louis said that he was shocked at the outcome. "It's a big big shock," he said. "I don't think they went wrong anywhere, everyone was great tonight. This is not the last we've heard of these girls though. They're going to be in a big girl group, even if it's not this one. They've got the attitude, the looks and the personality."
