Digital Spy caught up with Amelia this morning to get her own verdict on the 'big twist', those Frankie Cocozza romance rumours and the latest gossip on Kitty Brucknell.
> 'X Factor' Poll: Should Amelia Lily have gone?
I picked you as a winner last Friday, so first of all, I apologise for jinxing you. How are you feeling this morning?
"I'm obviously really upset, but I've got to move on now and see what the future holds for me. I'm still really young and I'm really confident that I'm going to get where I want to be. Kelly has said that she thinks I'm going to be worldwide. Even though she picked Sophie over me, I'm just looking forward now and being positive. I know that I'm going to do well. I know I'll do well whatever song anyone gives me, what anyone tells me to do. I'll always give it my rock all."
It was an incredibly bold song choice for week one, covering 'Billie Jean'...
"Definitely. Especially on the first live show, opening it up. It was a massive song choice and I'm really proud of myself that I took a massive risk. I don't think any of the other contestants could have pulled off the song like I did, if I'm being perfectly honest."
Did you think on Saturday night that you'd done enough to survive?
"I always give 110% with every performance. Kelly said at Judges' Houses, 'I can see that you want this more than anyone else'. I do and I still do want to make it more than anybody else. I feel like my performance on Saturday was amazing and I feel like I've got so much more to give. The Girls category was so good this weekend though, I reckon Kelly just picked a name out of a hat. It was that hard. I really did feel for Kelly and I still love her to bits. She said if I ever need help or advice just to call her."
It must be frustrating to know that you only left the show because of a twist.
"Yeah it is. I've got nearly 50,000 followers on Twitter. I know for a fact if it was a public vote, I'd have... well, I'd have hoped, I would have stayed. The twist was really unfair. We'd just got to know each other and got a taste for The X Factor and they landed this massive bombshell on us. It was hurtful. Really hurtful. But you know what? We had to do it. We had to see if we could handle the stress and the pressure and fight harder. I know that I fought as much as I could. Everything happens for a reason, doesn't it?"
Does it add to the frustration that people like Johnny Robinson and Kitty survived, perhaps for the wrong reasons?
"I think the thing with The X Factor is that you always have to have the fun contestants and they always have to be a laugh because it's a TV show. But Johnny can sing! He's got an amazing voice. Alongside that, he is an entertainer. He's got the big troupe on the stage and that's Johnny. He did a great job on Saturday."
"Obviously with Kitty, she's a complicated character and people either love her or hate her. But you know what? That girl has a voice on her. She's born to be on that stage. She's 26 and she's worked and worked to get where she is now. I think she's an inspiration for many young girls. She's wanted this for so long. She told me she saw me as a bit of a threat, but last night after the show ended, she came up to me and opened up her heart. She said, 'Amelia, you are everything that I want to be'. Hearing something like that from a 26-year-old woman is, 'Wow'. It's inspiring. I wish them all the best of luck. They are all absolutely amazing."
We've been told that there might be a small romance blossoming between you and Frankie. Is that true?
"I was expecting all of this and it didn't bother me in the slightest last week. Me and Frankie were laughing about it. This is what happens. This is what the press is about. They love to make up stories. Me and Frankie were great friends from Boot Camp and we went through the competition together. It was lovely to live with him because we shared our experience together. I'm hoping that he goes really far in the competition because I love him to bits. I know all the other girls do as well. I think it's funny though, these stories in the press they make up."
What was it that you like about him so much? How does he charm the girls all the time? Is it is hair?
"Ha, you're trying to get it out of me. We're just really good friends. I'm not a typical girly girl. I'm a bit of a lad. Not so much in being like a boy, I just get on with boys better. Living in that house, I was always with the boys and hardly with the girls. All the boys are lovely as well as Frankie, he's just a great character and I wish him all the best."
There's a lot of angry and upset people on Digital Spy's forums who think you should still be on the show. What do you say to them?
"It is frustrating, I know a lot of people are raging and slating Kelly, saying she made the wrong decision. That's people's opinion. It would have been lovely to get through, but at the end of the day it was her choice. She was looking at me and thinking about what I could do without The X Factor. For all those people who are upset and annoyed, just please keep backing me along the way. You haven't seen the last of me yet. This is just the beginning. I'm going to make sure I make it in my own way and do everyone proud."
The X Factor continues next Saturday at 7.45pm on ITV1
