Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh claimed that visiting the country had been a waste of time after holding auditions in Cardiff last week.
"The talent was in the minority in Wales, if I'm being honest with you," Cowell told a Welsh newspaper. "There were a lot of people that turned up that should not have been there. Don't blame me when you see the show and you're let down."
Walsh added: "There's no way the winner's going to come from Wales. It has been very disappointing. The talent has just not been good enough. On a scale of one to 10, I would give the talent in Wales a three."
Louis revealed that he was glad to be leaving - as most of the auditions had been bizarre to watch.
He said: "There have been a lot of lunatics here - I was looking for Tom Jones and I got Bonnie Tyler. We need some good singers, and there haven't been any good singers here."
The X Factor returns for its fifth series on ITV1 in August.
