The Irish judge predicted that the next winning act will either come from the capital or Manchester. He also stuck by his claim that Cardiff had little to offer this time around.
Asked to name his top city, Walsh replied: "It would have to be London this year, we had some really strong acts come through - one group in particular really stood out - and Manchester delivered good talent as it does most years. Cardiff however was a bit of a let down."
Walsh also confirmed reports that he is hoping to mentor the groups on this year's series.
He said: "Every year I say I don't want the groups, but we have had a few strong groups come through so I might change my mind this year."
The X Factor returns for its fifth series on Saturday at 7.30pm on ITV1.
