Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees has slammed The X Factor, claiming that it is more concerned with making money than fostering talent.

The veteran musician, who was a judge on the BBC's Fame Academy, told The Mirror: "These people are chosen from nowhere. They are told what to sing, how to dress and behave. They're puppets, not musicians. They are simply a product.

"It's about making money for the people behind the show, not musical talent."

Gibb's comments come just days after Noel Gallagher publicially criticised the ITV reality show for failing to offer its winner a stable career.
