Ruth Lorenzo and Daniel Evans, both mentored by Dannii Minogue, were unable to access the stage as their co-stars sang a cover of Mariah Carey's hit song 'Hero' in the live results show.
Speaking on The Xtra Factor, Cowell explained: "The door got jammed, which is why Daniel and Ruth didn't come out, so I apologise and I feel bad for them. But maybe we'll arrange another performance so they get to sing as well."
The single is available for download now and will be released in stores on Monday. All proceeds will be donated to the Help For Heroes charity, which aims to provide better facilities for wounded British servicemen, and the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal.
"I just hope everybody downloads this song and makes it number one next week," Louis Walsh added. "It's just a fantastic song, it's very emotional. Everybody should do it, it's worth it."
