Seymour, who recently split from Cowell after six years, confirmed that the music mogul is thrilled with Cole's success on the ITV1 talent show.
The TV star also played down Sinitta's recent claim that relations between Cowell and Dannii Minogue have been "really bad" since the Girls Aloud star joined the programme.
"Simon calls me every night after the show, and although I don't know that he'd say he's fed up with Dannii, let's just say he loves Cheryl. She's been a complete revelation on the show, and he thinks she's great," Seymour told the Daily Mail.
"I met her a few weeks ago and she was lovely and down-to-earth. It's not often you meet someone that beautiful who's a real girl's girl, but she is, and she's just blown everyone away this series."
Asked about rumours of a feud between Cole and Minogue, Seymour replied: "Simon likes a good catfight, so I think he finds it all very amusing."
