'X Factor's Daniel denies using "sob story"

Evans was inspired to enter the ITV1 singing contest by the death of his wife, who died shortly after giving birth to their first child.
Despite receiving consistently negative comments from Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell, he lasted until week six of the live shows, finally being voted off on Saturday.
"When people were saying I had a sob story and I was using my wife's death, that did hurt me a little bit," he told DS. "I would never play on it and I mentioned her because I was asked."
Evans dedicated his rendition of Josh Groban's 'To Where You Are' to his late wife during the week three sing-off, but he insisted that his song choice was appropriate.
"I honestly thought it would be the last time I ever sang on the show and the producers said, 'You should sing something that's really important to you'," he explained.
"I sang a song for my wife because she got me onto the show so it's only fair that I said goodbye on that note."
