The X Factor winner admitted that she had persuaded Simon Cowell to ensure that Cole was kept on board as a mentor.
"Cheryl will play a major part in my career. I am making sure she stays involved," she told The Sun.
"I respect her opinions dearly. She was in this position six years ago and she can advise me well.
"She will have an official position as well as being my friend. We are always texting and calling.
"She texted me at 4am saying she couldn’t sleep because she was hyper on Sunday. She said it was an exciting time for her."
Burke is currently heading for the Christmas number one with her debut single 'Hallelujah'.
