Laura White: 'X Factor' has changed my life
Published Tuesday, Apr 7 2009, 07:08 BST | By Lara Martin
Former X Factor contestant Laura White has admitted that appearing on the ITV1 talent show changed her life.
Picking up the most memorable exit award at last night's Digital Spy Reality TV Awards, the singer revealed that she still found it difficult to watch footage of her elimination in week five.
"I'm so grateful [for this award] because I know so many people must have voted for it, so it must have meant a massive thing when people saw me leave the X Factor," she said.
"The X Factor changed my life and I'll always be grateful for the opportunity, because before that, I was just a young girl from Atherton."
The 21-year-old added that she had begun work on her debut album, which she described as "retro, mixed with jazz, mixed with soul".
