X Factor contestants who have made it through to the "boot camp" stage of the show have agreed not to hit judge Simon Cowell, The Mirror reports today.
The 120 wannabes were asked to sign a contract if they wanted to continue with the show.
The hopefuls have also agreed not to trash the homes of the judges, and even if they don't win, they cannot sign up to any new companies, sponsorship deals or promotional work for up to three months after the show's final.
An insider told the newspaper, "It's a watertight deal which really turns the screws. The contestants are locked in.
"It's a bit harsh. But when they sign they are so desperate to make it, they will agree to practically anything.
"It is only afterwards they realise what they have let themselves in for."
