X Factor hopefuls John & Edward have said that they do not mind being portrayed as villains on the programme.

The Dublin-born brothers were booed by the crowd on Saturday's boot camp show after they sang over office worker Sian Paley during their joint audition.

Paley complained to the judges that they had ruined her chances of progressing, but the panel decided to axe her and keep the boys in the competition.

"We went on and everybody knew their words and then we went on and it all got mixed up," the duo admitted.

"I think we were portrayed as the villains, but we don't mind that. When we were up there and everyone was booing, we didn't mind. Now we that know that they're not our friends.

"They felt they were in a competition and they were just going to boo. We cheered for everyone else, whether they were bad or good, we were thinking of even making a banner, but I'm glad we didn't."

The brothers, who have made the Final 24 of the competition, were branded "obnoxious" by Simon Cowell after their first audition.
