On last night's show, the judge made a remark which referred to Johnson's sexuality. She has since apologised.
Speaking on tonight's results programme, she told host Dermot O'Leary: "I'd like to apologise if I offended anyone. I was joking about it to Danyl before the show and it was not meant to offend anyone, so I apologise for that."
Meanwhile, Johnson's mentor Simon Cowell added that he had probably "overreacted" to the comment last night.
"I can say on Dannii's behalf that she is the last person in the world who would do anything offensive," he said. "I spoke to Danyl afterwards and he took it in the spirit... it was fun.
"No offence was intended so I think we should get back to the show. It's over."
