Kylie: 'Dannii's comment was innocent'

Kylie Minogue has defended her sister Dannii following criticism of the star's sexuality joke on The X Factor.

The popstar used her Twitter page to claim that the row surrounding Dannii's behaviour had been blown out of proportion.

Show judge Dannii sparked anger on Saturday night by discussing Danyl Johnson's bisexuality live on air. Viewers saw her stating that he had not needed to change the lyrics to 'And I Am Telling You' to refer to a woman rather than a man.

Kylie commented: "Just off the phone with my little sis, both she and Danyl are surprised by how much unnecessary attention her innocent comment has garnered."

Dannii made a live apology during The X Factor's results show last night. Danyl's mentor Simon Cowell also insisted that his protégé had not been offended.

X Factor producers recently said that Minogue would not be sacked for her comment.
