Houston sang her latest single 'Million Dollar Bill' on the Sunday night results show, when midway through the number a strap on the back of her gown gave way, E! reports.
The 46-year-old appeared unfazed by the rip in her floor-length dress, which was clearly noticeable during the performance.
"I sang myself out of my clothes," she told presenter Dermot O'Leary after she finished singing on the broadcast.
Last night's show, which also featured Cheryl Cole, pulled in an impressive 13.17 million viewers.
