The Crazy Love star, who performed a duet with Jackson at Wembley arena two years ago, insisted that his talent has been overlooked.
"A great singer does not always equate to being a star. You've got to work really hard at it," he told the Daily Star.
"I'm still in touch with Leon and it's been tough for him since leaving the show."
Jackson reached number one with winning single 'When You Believe' and his debut album Right Now shifted 130,000 copies.
The singer was forced to axe a string of live shows earlier this year after low ticket sales and was later dropped by record company Sony. He has since admitted to being "happy" playing pub gigs.
According to midweek figures, Buble's new record Crazy Love is expected to debut at number two on the album chart. He is scheduled to perform on The X Factor on Sunday night.
