The four-piece, who released new single 'Everybody In Love' this week, admitted that thought they would not get a record deal at first.
"There are no guarantees, the only guarantee was that they were going to sign the winner," singer Marvin Humes told Heat.
"When we came second, we were devastated. We thought that could be it."
The group, who later secured a record deal with Epic, said that they could not stop celebrating after their debut single 'Beat Again' topped the chart in July.
"We celebrated for about two weeks, and we're still celebrating now," Humes said.
"We all got our family and friends around for a celebration," Oritsé Williams added.
JLS release their self-titled debut album on November 9.
