Ofcom investigates John & Edward complaints

Ofcom has confirmed that it received a number of complaints about The X Factor after John & Edward survived the show last weekend.

The twins won the public vote after judge Simon Cowell controversially backed them over Lucie Jones, leaving the panel in deadlock.

An Ofcom spokeswoman confirmed that some viewers had registered objections, saying: "We will assess the complaints against the Broadcasting Code."

Last month, it was reported that some members of the public had contacted Ofcom to complain about the performances of Cheryl Cole and Whitney Houston on the programme.
