In an interview with The Independent, Walsh insisted that the singer would only need better management to be as successful as her sister Kylie, who has scored several number ones since finding fame in the '80s.
Discussing the 38-year-old's performance as a judge, the boyband manager said that Dannii had "upped her game 100% this year".
He added: "She's looking better and she works hard. Nobody gives her enough credit. She's as good as Kylie, she just doesn't have the machine behind her."
The star also commented on the rumoured style war between Dannii and Cheryl Cole on the current X Factor series.
Walsh remarked: "It's like a fashion show - who's going to have the best shoes, the best dress..."
The X Factor continues on Saturday at 8pm on ITV1.
