Danyl Johnson has become the ninth act to be voted off The X Factor.

Johnson, who performed 'Man In The Mirror' and 'I Have Nothing' on last night's show, received the fewest amount of public votes and will not be appearing in next week's final.

On hearing the news, he said: "I may have gone out in the semi-final, but I've gone out to some of the best people I've ever met. It's going to be an amazing final for them."

His mentor Simon Cowell added: "I said before we came on stage, there's nothing I would have changed, nothing more he could have done, it's just one of those things. He's gone out on a high and he's a graceful loser. I'm genuinely, genuinely a) upset, and b) glad I had the pleasure of working with you."

"I've met some best friends for life," Johnson continued. "I'm just going to see what happens. I'm looking forward to seeing my family, my friends, and playing a couple of gigs."

He then closed the show with his rendition of 'Man In The Mirror'.

The news means that Olly Murs, Joe McElderry and Stacey Solomon will compete for the X Factor crown in next week's final, which starts on Saturday at 7.30pm on ITV1.
