The 32-year-old allegedly texted Solomon before Saturday night's final wishing her luck in the ITV1 talent show.
"Steve has become smitten with Stacey after her performances on X Factor. He thinks she's absolutely gorgeous and hilarious fun," a source told the Daily Star.
"They have not met up yet but Steve sent her a text wishing her the best of luck for the final weekend and asked for a dinner date as soon as the competition is over."
Jones has previously been romantically linked to Pamela Anderson, Fearne Cotton and Heroes actress Hayden Panettiere.
Solomon finished in third place on this weekend's X Factor final.
