The singer - who won the 2008 series - told Company magazine that she would not feel qualified to permanently join her mentor Cheryl Cole on the panel, but said that if bosses wanted her to help out, they only had to "give me a call".
"I don't know if I'm in a position to judge anyone because I've only just started out in the business myself," she said. "But I would love to give advice to finalists because I've been through it. But if Simon was to ask me in like ten years, I'd probably say yeah!"
Asked why she had not been one of the names to cover for Dannii Minogue at the recent auditions, Burke explained: "That would have been absolutely amazing but I was promoting in Australia and Europe so it wasn't even on the cards unfortunately. But you never know - there's always next year!"
The 'Bad Boys' singer admitted that she is excited about the new series.
"I cannot wait," she said. "I'll Sky+ it because I'm on Magic Numbers [the first] night. Everyone is in for a treat this year, the talent has really gone up - they've raised the bar."
The new series of The X Factor begins on Saturday at 7.30pm on ITV1.
