In tomorrow night's episode, X Factor viewers will see Mary Byrne audition for the judges in Dublin, performing Shirley Bassey's 'I Who Have Nothing'.
The Daily Star reports that Cole is seen wiping away tears before telling the supermarket worker that she was stunned by the "incredible power and emotion" of her performance.
The Girls Aloud star added: "That was my favourite audition in Dublin."
Simon Cowell is also impressed by the single mother and left shocked by her lack of confidence.
"I think, no, I know, you have an amazing voice," he said. "I don't know why you suffer from no confidence."
He apparently told the panel, which included Louis Walsh and guest judge Katy Perry: "I absolutely love her, she is genuinely a lovely woman with great talent and I hope the audience loves her too. She deserves this break."
One of Byrne's neighbours told the paper: "She is over the moon. All she has wanted all her life is to realise her dream of being a singer.
"Entering the show has taken her that one step closer."
The X Factor continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on ITV1.
