The host is said to be missing everyone on the talent show and hasn't enjoyed her new presenting role as much as she thought she would.
An ITV insider told Now: "Holly wishes she could turn back the clock on The Xtra Factor and thinks she did a better job than Konnie's (Huq) doing.
"She really misses Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue. Right now she's contracted to stay at This Morning for at least another year and feels she must see it through, but she's yearning for new projects."
A This Morning spokesperson has confirmed that Willoughby does not plan to leave the show. However, it is thought that she is keen to have more children soon.
A source explained: "Holly adores her family and is desperate to give Harry a brother or sister. She and her husband Dan Baldwin agree that they don't want a big age gap between their kids.
"She'll stick at This Morning for a good while yet, but it's not quite the 'dream job' she thought it would be."
Willoughby is also apparently interested in obtaining an acting role. Another insider said: "Holly's already had a small cameo in Miss Marple and really enjoyed it. Acting is something she's always wanted to do."
