The duo, who have both reached the Judges' Houses stage in previous series, will be seen on this evening's audition show.
Payne performs a version of Michael Buble's 'Cry My A River' for the judges, after claiming that Simon Cowell was right to ditch him in 2008.
"Simon made the right decision because I was really young and I wasn't ready. Now I'm 16 and I'm ready to give it another shot," he says.
Another hopeful who makes a big impression is Cher Lloyd from Birmingham, who sings Soulja Boy's 'Turn My Swag On'. Commenting on her performance, Cheryl Cole says: "You are right up my street! You are actually my favourite audition so far. Little bit of attitude there, I like it."
The X Factor airs tonight at 7.30pm on ITV1.
