Bada Badoo stunned the judges with his X Factor audition in Cardiff.

The singer, who performed the Tom Jones classic 'I Who Have Nothing', walked on to the stage wearing an anorak and Simon Cowell predicted that he would be "a joke".

However, the reality TV hopeful shocked the panel when he belted out his song and won a standing ovation from sections of the crowd.

"I thought it was a joke and then you started singing. I loved it," commented Louis Walsh.

Cheryl Cole admitted that Badoo had "put me in my place", arguing that he was proof that "you should never judge a book by a cover".

Simon Cowell, who mocked the contestant for coming out dressed like "a little tortoise", added his support and voted him through to Boot Camp.

Speaking to Xtra Factor host Konnie Huq backstage, Badoo said that he was inspired to take part in the show to prove that you should never "judge a book by its cover" and because he had a crush on Huq.

He also revealed that people had "laughed" at him in the past when he claimed that he was a good singer.

The Xtra Factor continues on Saturday at 8.45pm on ITV1.
