The 17-year-old singer has been an early favourite to win the show since impressing the judges with her rendition of Soulja Boy's 'Turn My Swag On' at the Birmingham audition earlier this year.
However, concerns have been raised about Cher's well-being after she was pictured looking frail and nervous at Boot Camp filming.
The Daily Star reports that Cher is facing further problems after struggling to maintain her voice throughout the second stage of the competition.
An insider said: "Cher has really been struggling with her voice through the Boot Camp stages. It’s become so bad that doctors ordered her not to speak and she has been writing things down on paper instead.
"It seems the pressure of being branded the favourite and Cher’s constant singing and rehearsing has taken its toll. She’s devastated that her dream of winning could be over because of a sore throat."
The source added: "If she’s lucky enough to get through she fears that she will end up being unable to perform."
