The Zimbabwe-born singer missed out on the final cut yesterday, when Cheryl Cole revealed that her Top 3 girls would be Rebecca Ferguson, Katie Waissel and Cher Lloyd.
Fans of Nhengu vented anger at Cole's decision, pointing out that Waissel and Lloyd had both failed to complete their performances at the Judges' Houses stage.
Forum member Jeanoj said: "Gamu is far and away the most outstanding singer in the competition! Cheryl Cole is stone deaf!"
Awshum-Yawn agreed, commenting: "Seriously hoping it's not the last I see and hear from Gamu. I made a pledge not to buy any Syco music products a while back but would break that pledge if Gamu gets a contract either via X Factor or outside it."
Anactoria argued that Nhengu should have been selected over Waissel, writing: "Gamu has shown that she has an amazing voice (and a far better memory for lyrics). She's liked by the public, even after the autotune scandal and she doesn't have to rely on ridiculous outfits or props to be remembered. Plus, she's had the 'right' amount of experience - she's done a decent amount of gospel singing, so she can sing in front of an audience, but she's never been anywhere near a record contract (as far as I'm aware)."
Meanwhile, The Steel Flipp added: "After tonight's complete farce called X Factor and putting two girls through that didn't even get through a whole song into to the live finals, I think Cheryl has shot herself in the foot. Hopefully it won't be a hat trick for her and she doesn't deserve one either. She technically had the strongest group but now it really looks the weakest."
However, Cole did get some support over her decision with Loobs40 adding: "I found Gamu and TreyC completely uninteresting. I think Katie and Cher are unique, and if Cheryl wants to put them through, then fine, I'll deal with it. Because at the end of the day it's a TV show."
The first X Factor live show airs on Saturday at 7.40pm on ITV1.
