The Over 28s act, who is being mentored by Louis Walsh, will sing his first upbeat song as part of Saturday's Guilty Pleasures theme night.
Speaking about his track to the official X Factor site, he said: "I just have to focus, and rein in the urge to go crazy on the song with some improvised riffs and James Brown growls!
"I have to remember to stick to the melody and let people listen to the song; which not everyone will be familiar with.
"It's a chance to show everyone a slightly different side of me. I've done a couple of 'sad songs' so far, but this one is a much more upbeat number so I'm just going to go out there and have fun with it."
He added: "When Saturday comes I'm going to be ready to bring the roof down!"
The X Factor airs on Saturday at 7.30pm on ITV1.
