Shayne Ward denies One Direction mime dig

Shayne Ward has denied suggesting that One Direction are miming during their X Factor performances.

A report today claimed that the former winner, who recently returned to the show to perform his current single 'Gotta Be Somebody', had hit out at the Simon Cowell-mentored group and said that they "shouldn't mime".

However, writing on Twitter this afternoon Ward dismissed the article - claiming that what he said had been taken out of context.

"To all who read that I said one direction are miming. It's not true," he wrote. "I said no such thing. Amazing how words get twisted. Good old journos."
