Sol Campbell is being lined up for the upcoming celebrity version of The X Factor.
Producers have drawn up a shortlist of stars for the series, including rugby player Gavin Henson, Coronation Street actress Tina O'Brien, presenter Holly Willoughby, quiz host Chris Tarrant and chat show king Michael Parkinson.
ITV are apparently hoping that the show will help to win the ratings war against Channel 4's Big Brother 7.
A source told the Daily Star, "For too long Big Brother has had the crown throughout the summer, pulling in the ratings and the headlines. So ITV have decided to hit back by lobbing everything - including the kitchen sink - at the show in a bid to steal viewers back.
"Last year Celebrity Love Island managed to grab some of its young audience. So they have decided to up their game this year with some TV surprises."
