Gareth Gates' Stammer House will feature the Pop Idol singer taking six young men and women under his wing and trying to "transform their lives".
Gates is a qualified speech coach and wants to pass on his knowledge and experience of coping with the speech impediment.
Over four days, the youngsters will live together and be given a tough regime of tasks and challenges to control their stutters.
"I'm really looking forward to letting the cameras in, to see not just the everyday struggle people like me go through, but also the positive outcome that can be gained if you put the effort in," said Gates.
"Hopefully this documentary will give people an insight into something that most take for granted - speaking!"
Gareth Gates' Stammer House was among a raft of new BBC Three commissions announced by controller Zai Bennett at the Edinburgh TV Festival this weekend.
