'X Factor' contestant Kitty Brucknell: 'I just want to offend people'

X Factor hopeful Kitty Brucknell has said that she does not want to be seen as the "joke" contestant.

The professional Britney Spears impersonator was the subject of numerous tabloid headlines after her audition was broadcast last month. The singer won praise from judges Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos, Kelly Rowland and Louis Walsh, for her performance of Lady Gaga's 'The Edge of Glory'.

Brucknell will return in this week's Boot Camp double bill, as she sports a rubber bikini donned with flashing lights.

"I want to be daring. I'm very body confident," she told The Sun. "I just want to offend people! I want to grind up against a guitarist and bend over backwards - stuff like that. I even have a rubber bikini at home."

However, despite her determination to put on a show, Brucknell admitted: "I want to do outrageous performances - but without being the joke act."

Revealing her inspiration, the 26-year-old said: "I went to Soho the other day and I sat there watching the drag queens and got inspired. I'm not even sure I want a stylist. I want to say, 'Could you get me some latex trousers?'"

However, Brucknell said that her appearance on the first audition show meant some of the other singers at Boot Camp were already aware of her.

"There was a girl who seemed to hate me from the start," she said. "She came up to me an hour before I went on stage at Wembley and showed me all the bad press that had been written about me.

"She said I was seen as a joke act and that Louis hated my guts. It really knocked my confidence."

The X Factor continues this weekend on ITV1.
