Brookes was sent home by the judges in tonight's show after finding herself in the bottom two with Kitty Brucknell.
Speaking on The Xtra Factor, Brucknell said that she was "grateful" to her mentor Louis Walsh for saving her, but added that Brookes was her "best friend".
She tearfully explained that she is "really going to miss her a lot".
Johnny Robinson also described Brookes as his "best friend" in the contest, but joked that at least she will no longer "be able to nick [his] Curly Wurlys".
Elsewhere, Janet Devlin tearfully revealed that she is happy to be through, but continued: "Sami is like my mum in the house. When times were really hard, she was there."
Rhythmix member Leigh-Anne Pinnock also described Brookes as a "mum", explaining that she is "such a nice person", while Sophie Habibis said that surviving the vote is "very, very bittersweet".
"I'm really happy I'm here, but Sami is such a great person, an amazing singer," she said. "She's going to be very, very missed in the house."
Asked what the hardest thing about being in The X Factor is, she replied: "The hardest thing is saying goodbye to people like her."
The X Factor continues on Saturday at 8pm on ITV1.
