Sophie Habibis has defended controversial X Factor star Frankie Cocozza, insisting that she wasn't upset to depart before the Brighton singer.

Habibis claimed that Cocozza has a "heart of gold" behind his laddish public persona and that she is happy for all the remaining acts in the show.

"I really love Frankie. He has got a heart of gold and he does deserve to be in the competition," she told Digital Spy.

"I'm glad for everyone that got through. I am also glad that some people wanted to keep me in and I'm thankful for everyone that did vote for me. I just want to let all of those people know that I am still here and that I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing."

Cocozza upset some viewers on Saturday night when he spoke candidly on The Xtra Factor about his relationship with Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan.

"I met her and I banged her," the 18-year-old told hosts Caroline Flack and Olly Murs.
