Frankie Cocozza: 'I wasn't kicked off The X Factor'

By
Frankie Cocozza has maintained that he was not officially kicked off The X Factor.

The 18-year-old told Heat that he made the decision to leave after he was overheard talking about taking cocaine.

Asked if he was escorted away from the X Factor house, Cocozza said: "No. I think they didn't do that to me because I hadn't been kicked out."

Of how his drug-taking came to light, he added: "One of the X Factor bosses overheard me saying it to someone on the Sunday night and they confronted me with it on the Monday morning.

"I admitted it. I wasn't going to lie. I'd been so stupid. The producer said, 'Do you deserve to be in?' I said, 'No. And that's why I'm going to leave'."

Following his X Factor exit, Cocozza said that he is not a drug addict but just "an idiot".

He later added that he had to realise the effect of his actions on other people and "stop being a little s**t."

Asked if he went before he could be pushed, Cocozza nodded and said: "I was such an idiot. I didn't ask what would have happened if I'd told them I didn't want to leave."

He admitted feeling "devastated" by his departure, adding: "I just thought, 'What is this going to do to my family? What are my friends going to say?' But I knew it was the right thing to do.

"I regret it like you wouldn't believe. But I know I can't do anything about it. It was a big opportunity. I just hope it's not the last one I ever get."
