X Factor judge Kelly Rowland has denied allegations that she faked her recent illness.

The 'Down For Whatever' singer was absent from the live shows on October 29 and October 30 after being diagnosed with a throat infection. She was replaced by former X Factor champion Alexandra Burke.

Speculation arose that Rowland exaggerated her illness following a feud with fellow judges Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh over comments made about her act Misha B the previous week.

"I was ill," Rowland insisted to the Daily Mail. "I didn't know what was wrong with me. I stopped eating and drinking, and got so dehydrated the doctor put me on a drip.

"I was so sick I had to postpone everything. It was such a slap in the face when people said I was faking."

In the same interview, Rowland argued that Contostavlos had been "completely out of line" with her criticism of Misha B.
