When asked about the 2012 series, all four claimed that they wanted to be back on the panel again.
Defending criticism that this year's judges hadn't matched previous series of the show, Walsh commented: "We're only as good as the talent that walks through the door. We all work really hard. We always do."
He added later: "It's all about this year at the moment. We know absolutely nothing [about 2012]."
Later, the judges also appeared unclear as to whether Simon Cowell would be making an appearance across the four-hour final this weekend.
"We know Simon watches the show every week, but I think he's concentrating on the US show more than this one at the moment," said Walsh. Barlow commented: "I don't think he is [coming]."
Rowland also claimed that Cowell wouldn't be shy about criticising the judges if their acts weren't up to scratch: "If Simon wants us to know something, trust us, he'll let us know."
The X Factor final kicks off on Saturday (December 10) at 8pm on ITV1. Marcus Collins, Amelia Lily and Little Mix are fighting it out for the chance to land a Syco record contract and a Christmas single.
