As previously reported, the producer and former judge made a Skype call to The Xtra Factor tonight and praised the team for creating an "absolutely amazing" show at Wembley Arena.
"Do you know what, it really made me miss being back in Britain," he said. "It was absolutely amazing, one of the best finals I've ever seen and I wasn't on it."
When asked by hosts Olly Murs and Caroline Flack who impressed him most, Cowell replied: "No question, Little Mix won the night.
"I thought all three contestants did really well... but I got to say Little Mix are a revelation and if a girl group was to win the show, it makes history and maybe something special is going to happen."
Cowell then addressed the somewhat negative reaction to new judges Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Kelly Rowland, jokingly declaring that the Take That singer looked "too comfortable" in his head judge chair.
Turning serious, he stated: "They've been great, the new panel this year. I've really enjoyed the show. [It] could have had a bit more controversy, but at the end of the day, it's all about finding stars, and I think tomorrow night Marcus versus Little Mix is going to be sensational... I couldn't call it."
Throughout the segment, Cowell enjoyed some gentle banter with his former co-judge Louis Walsh, responding to the Irish manager's suggestion that he "looked younger" by saying that there had been "no stress" in his life since the pair parted.
He also alluded to Walsh's £30,000 hair transplant, which the 59-year-old claimed had been recommended to him by Cowell himself.
