Rihanna's 'We Found Love' was the most-heard track on this year's X Factor auditions.

Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh, Tulisa Contostavlos and a rotating group of guest judges heard nearly 500 acts on the nationwide tour earlier this summer.

Other popular choices from the acts included 'At Last' by Etta James and tracks from Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran and Adele.

Gary Barlow complained last year that he got sick of listening to Adele because of the number of auditionees covering her songs.

Some of the most amusing excuses from disappointed contestants on this year's show included "I've got a sore throat", "I haven't had time to learn the words" and "My microphone was too loud".

The X Factor returns this weekend on ITV1.
