Host Kate Thornton revealed after the result was announced that the 26 year old singer was separated from the next most voted-for act by less than 3%.
Earlier this evening, Ben performed "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" by Bryan Adams and U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For". Of the latter performance, his mentor Sharon Osbourne said:
"Your voice is a great recording voice, but now I see the passion. It's taken you this long - I could smack you - but you're finally there."
Tonight's result puts Leona Lewis and Ray Quinn through to next week's final.
