The Fife-based singer left a cryptic message on Twitter suggesting that she had turned to the BBC's rival contest after twice being rejected from The X Factor.
"Had an amazing day! #TheVoice," the tweet from earlier this week read.
Richards became a firm fan favourite after making her X Factor debut in the show's 2011 series with a performance of Adele's 'Someone Like You'.
She was controversially axed by Kelly Rowland at the Judges' Houses stage and only made it as far as Boot Camp when she re-auditioned for this year's competition.
It has been announced that the second series of The Voice UK will feature fewer live shows and give more focus to the series' spinning chairs feature.
Jessie J is so far the only coach confirmed to return, though the BBC has said that it wants will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones and Danny O'Donoghue back as well.
The X Factor, meanwhile, will return for its Judges' Houses episodes of this year's series on Saturday (September 29) at 8pm on ITV1.
