Tulisa Contostavlos introduced her Girls contestant by saying Spraggan would be singing her "own song" for the "first time ever in X Factor history".

However, former contestant Chico was allowed to sing original song 'It's Chico Time' in week six of series two. It was unclear whether Contostavlos meant that Spraggan's track was the first one entirely written by a contestant.

Spraggan was praised by the judges, with Gary Barlow suggesting that she should carry on performing her own pieces: "You're a great songwriter... please don't leave... [that] strength in your dressing room."

Nicole Scherzinger called her a "brilliant storyteller" and "spunky", with Louis Walsh describing her as a cross between Kate Nash and Victoria Wood.

Spraggan said to Dermot O'Leary that she had wanted to put "my message across... through my words".
