'X Factor' James Arthur receives call from Mary J Blige

X Factor finalist James Arthur received a call from R&B star Mary J Blige yesterday (October 11), reports The Sun.

The 24-year-old spoke to Blige about his forthcoming performance of her song 'No More Drama' as part of the show's 'Love and Heartbreak' theme.

"This is just blowing my mind right now. I'm such a big, big fan," said Arthur during the call, which will be shown during tonight's episode.

"How would you advise me to do what you did with the song and do it justice?"

"Sing the song like you want something to change in your life," replied Blige. "Like you really, really wanna change something and that's it."

She added: "Nicole [Scherzinger] was raving about you. You must be amazing. I don't wanna wish you luck, just go get it."

Earlier this week, it was reported that fellow contestants had caught Arthur chatting online to former glamour model Jodie Marsh at 4am. Marsh is said to have contacted the singer after she admitted that she had a crush on him via her Twitter page.

The X Factor continues tonight at 8.20pm on ITV1.
