Ben Mills: 'X Factor' was 'last straw'

Ben Mills has said that signing up for the X Factor was a "last straw" attempt to find fame.

The rocker was runner-up in the competition last year and has since won a record deal with Sony BMG. He told the Daily Mirror he was delighted with the success - especially after he had tried every other route to fame.

“Being a pop show, it was quite weird for me to have entered it all,” he commented. “But it was really a case of I didn’t have another avenue to go down.

“I’d tried sending my demo off to record companies, showcasing myself, doing all that sort of thing, so it was kind of like the last straw.”

Mills is now touring the country with the show's other contestants and has just recorded a new music video in South Africa.
