"So we have something to tell you. Since we have been featured on The X Factor we have found out that legally we have to tweak our name slightly," they said on Facebook.

"The reason we are called Kingsland is because we live near the Kingsland Road in London.

"So to stay out of prison and because it makes perfect sense, from now on we're going to be known by our full name KINGSLAND ROAD! We love our new name and hope you will do too."

Kingsland Road made it through to Judges' Houses on last weekend's show and will discover if they have made it to the live shows this weekend.

Meanwhile, the unnamed girl group put together by Gary Barlow are still trying to think of a name after deciding against both Stop, Look, Listen and Miss Dynamics.

X Factor winners Little Mix were forced to change their name from Rhythmix back in 2011 after discovering a charity was operating under the same name.

One Direction have also faced legal action in the past after a band claimed to be using their name in America.
