Matt Cardle: 'X Factor advert omission was disappointing'

By
Matt Cardle has said that he was "disappointed" not to be featured on a recent X Factor advert.

The 2010 winner was notably omitted from the mash-up ad, which remixed several of the show's biggest stars, despite including some acts who have proved less successful than Cardle so far.

The singer said that he was mainly upset for his fans who had voted for him to win three years ago.

He told Unreality TV: "I was a bit disappointed not for myself but for the fans who'd voted for me.

"The year that I won X Factor was the highest ratings they've ever had. Something like 19.5 million people watched the final that year.

"So I feel bad for them if they would've wanted to see me in the video, but you know, I had my own stuff going on at the time.

"I had my own video out at the time with Mel [C] and I was really busy. So for me, it wasn't a big thing, but I did feel it was disappointing for fans who may have wanted to see me in it."

Mel C - who sang with Cardle on the track 'Loving You' - described ITV's decision not to include Cardle as "rude".

Cardle also spoke about his staged romance with Mel C for the single, which included a steamy video and performance at London's G-A-Y.

"It's a strictly professional relationship," he said. "We had a giggle at G-A-Y, partly to wind up [owner] Jeremy Joseph because he was egging us on to do it.

"But we just did that as part of the video and - don't get me wrong, Mel's super hot - it was great fun, but I can't say that we're going out or anything like that."

Matt Cardle releases his third studio album Porcelain on October 28. Listen to an album sampler below:
