Luke Friend was eliminated from the competition at the end of tonight's (December 14) live show, meaning that Sam Bailey and Nicholas McDonald will now go head-to-head in a bid to be crowned this year's winner.
Asked by Dermot O'Leary how he felt making it to the final, Luke said: "It was actually really mental. I know everyone thought I was the underdog sometimes, but I got here!
"This is absolutely amazing, I mean I'm going to keep writing music and doing something I love. I'm going to write music for you guys."
Louis Walsh added: "He's got something unique; he's going to have an amazing career. Watch this space."
Luke thanked Walsh for his support as mentor, saying: "I just love you so much, man. You've been a great mentor. Thank you, thank you."
The final three performed two songs each to convince the public that they deserved a place in tomorrow night's final show.
Luke performed a rendition of 'We Are Young' by fun. and later took to the stage with Ellie Goulding for a performance of her hit single 'Anything Can Happen'.
Meanwhile, Nicholas performed 'Candy' by Robbie Williams before duetting with Shane Filan on 'Flying Without Wings' and Sam took on Lady Gaga's 'The Edge of Glory' and performed a rendition of 'And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going' with Nicole Scherzinger.
Tonight's show featured live performances from Tom Odell and The Killers, as well as a special ensemble performance from former 'novelty acts' Kitty Brucknell, Diva Fever, Rylan Clark, Johnny Robinson, Jedward, Wagner and 2 Shoes.
The X Factor live final continues tomorrow night at 7.30pm on ITV. Gary Barlow and Elton John, One Direction and Katy Perry will take to the stage before this year's winner is revealed.
